Carol Dahl to join Foundation as Executive Director, effective July 25

The Lemelson Foundation is pleased to announce that Dr. Carol A. Dahl will join our staff as Executive Director as of July 25. With experience working for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation first as Director of the Global Health Discovery team and more recently as Director of Staff for the Global Health Program, Dahl brings to us a passion for innovation and a keen understanding of the power of invention and innovative technologies to transform lives both in the U.S. and in developing countries.

With a diverse portfolio spanning across several sectors with invention and innovation at its core, Dahl’s cross-disciplinary thinking and background – which also includes serving as vice president for Strategic Partnerships at Biospect Inc., various positions at the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and a Ph.D in Zoology – is a great fit with the Foundation’s mission to inspire and mentor young people, grassroots inventors and entrepreneurs across the globe, while also supporting organizations developing and disseminating low-cost innovative technologies in developing countries.

Dahl will start with the Foundation at the end of July, replacing interim Executive Director Denis Prager who took over the position in February.
