Improving lives through invention

WGBH Design Squad Global

Helping student inventors make an impact on the world through engineering

Design Squad Global, a Peabody award-winning PBS Kids television series produced by WGBH, launched in 2007 with the support of the Foundation to inspire middle school and high school students through engineering and invention.

It provides valuable data on the impact of invention education and identifies the curricula and teacher training approaches needed to encourage large-scale adoption of this innovative teaching approach.

The program also includes:

Design Squad Global Clubs:
Students in Design Squad Global Clubs explore engineering and invention with an international partner. They use the design process to solve problems and discover that engineering is a powerful tool for making a difference in the world. Students also develop global competence, the ability to communicate and collaborate with people from different backgrounds, cultures and perspectives.

Parent & Educator Resources:
The Design Squad Global Club Guides contain all the step-by-step instructions and materials needed to run a 6- or 12-week club. It has been used by educators across the U.S. and in nearly 30 countries to date.
