The
Global Cooling Prize, an international innovation competition to develop super-efficient and climate-friendly residential cooling solutions, announced its two winners:
Gree Electric Appliances, Inc. of Zhuhai, with partner
Tsinghua University; and
Daikin, with partner
Nikken Sekkei Ltd.
These two companies showcased their cooling technology prototypes that have five times less climate impact than the standard air conditioning units currently available in the market.
The Prize is a global coalition initiated by the Government of India, Mission Innovation, and RMI, and was supported by The Lemelson Foundation and other partners.
